Manja Pamodzi, a recycling program initiated by Zambian Breweries PLC in partnership with the Millennium Challenge Account – Zambia (MCAZ), has been in existence for two years. During this period, key achievements have been realized.
Over the past two years, the project has empowered over 400 people, namely 399 collectors and 8 aggregators. Currently, women make up over 70 percent of total collectors.
Figure 1.2 below shows the collections that have been made in tonnages from inception of the project till date.
The project has so far collected over 2000 tonnes of recyclable material from inception
From inception till date, the programme has collected over 2, 500 tonnes of recyclable material and participated in key national events such as the past 91st Agricultural and Commercial Show under the theme ‘Promoting a Green Economy’.
These collections not only prove that recycling is a viable form of entrepreneurship, but also demonstrate that we need to reuse post-consumer waste in order to achieve a clean Zambia.
